Building the Future - Taking Action

The purpose of the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation is to develop competences and an innovative business environment for the companies represented by the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries.

In total, the Foundation has granted 140M€ to support development of education, research and the innovation environment in Finland. According to our current strategy, the Foundation supports especially initiatives that aim at a significant leap in renewing the Finnish innovation and educational environment.

The Future Makers

We are funding ambitious reserach openings with novel ideas to create internationally unique knowledge for the benefit of the Finnish industry and renewal of the society at large. The program is co-funded with Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.

The foundation is also active in the development of doctoral education in Finland, e.g. via the Post Docs in Companies Program, and we provide grants to studies in top-level US universities via the Fulbright Program.

Grants for Master's Theses on AI Topics

The Foundation opens a call for AI related master’s thesis projects. The Foundation will award at least 120 grants, up to 20 000 euro each that are carried out as part of a larger research, development or implementation project related to artificial intelligence by a member company of Technology Industries of Finland

School of the Future

Finland is recognised for its world-leading education system - and we want to ensure that we will be a leader also in the future. The Foundation is supporting two extensive co-creation initiatives that will carry out hundred innovative and ambitious educational projects - with an international impact.

HundrED - helping schools change by seeking and sharing innovations in K12 education

StarT - project-based collaborative learning

In addition to ambitious new openings, we continue our long-term mission to support the ground-level competence building that lays the foundation of the Finnish technology industries. For example, the foundation recognizes the efforts of our excellent teachers by rewarding all Finnish teachers who take part of the Flexible Mathematics study program. We also encourage all of our top-level students in Finland by grants based on success in the national Mathematics Matriculation Exam.

Board of directors

The Board of Directors is the legal body in charge of the Foundation's activities. The Foundation has also appointed an authorised representative to run the Foundation's operations under the board.

The Board of Directors of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries appoints the Cebtennial Foundation's six Board members for a three-year term. The President of the Federation is a permanent member of the Board of Directors based on his position.

Steel and Metal Producers' Fund

Fund for the Association of Finnish Steel and Metal Producers operates under the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation.

The Steel and Metal Producers' Fund was established by the following steel and metal producing companies: Outokumpu, Outotec, Rautaruukki, Boliden and Ovako. The fund grants scholarships and awards worth approximately 300,000 euros annually.
